Para Siempre

Every new thing we've ever had to do we at one point did not want to do.

And how do you say 'always'?

Cold Champagne

Tonight I totally ran a red light right in front of a cop, and s/he didn't come after me. It's the little things.

I'm going down to West 4th Street, you can take the A Train. You're leaving the country, and we're never gonna see you again.

I wish I was mad.
I'm just too late.

LOOK HOW COOL I AM...Not

Read the Rolling Stone story on Glee cast members. Pretty interesting, and of course, Chris Colfer was the superstar. Playing my favorite character, Colfer is actually younger than me. He graduated from HS in '08. In the interview he said that he had a really rough time going through school but he always fit in on HIS SPEECH AND DEBATE TEAM.

Blaaaaagh! Speech and Debate 4 Lyfe!

So, naturally, my next mode of action was to look him up on the National Forensics League Database. I found him and quickly realized I totally kicked his butt in interp. I was so thrilled. I totally smoked him in districts, and it doesn't even look like he broke to Nationals! I had to tell everyone! Then, suddenly, I was all,

"Um. Alice are you about to brag because you have more speech and debate points than the gay kid on the TV show about Glee club?"

GD.

PS My recent reflecting on Speech may or may not have to do with my future. Details forthcoming.

Come Home

Some people hate that we are mandated by this school to live in dorms all four years. But, I've always liked it. It is a closer community, and you never have to worry about rents and locations etc. It's a flat rate. You've got a house. It's done.

Tonight as I was about to brush my teeth I saw a hallmate of mine all glammed up like she was heading out. I am wearing Phyl's old purple tank top with hearts on it and gym shorts. I'm sleepy, and it's showing. I like that--that in my own home, in my own hall, I can remember that some people go out late on Fridays and others write on their blogs and go to sleep. Some are with boyfriends and others are texting their long distance dudes while watching 30 Rock. Some are hosting several friends in a room and others are together as roommates, soundlessly.

when you've got a problem you come home
you don't go out and make matters worse on your own

The End of the Story

Bradley and I post Lazy Zip, February

Someone once told me he used to read my blog, but he was frustrated most of the time because I only ever tell the first half of stories, and I never finish what I am saying.

I just realized this is true about my auditions a couple weeks ago. I wrote about my audition and hopes, but never offered the satisfying finish. My dreams came true as I was awarded the part of Lady Quigley--Maid Marion's serving wench. The cast is phenomenal, and, yes, I get to be in scenes with both Bradley and Stripes. So, mystery solved if you were wondering.

It's late and this grate won't come down, come down. It's late and this grate won't come down.

DiCaprio/Juice/Hooked on In the Heights Lately

in honor of seeing Shutter Island this weekend, March 2009

Pookie and I snuck large caesar wraps in our purses Friday and chomped away while watching Leo. I give it an "A-" personally. Forget the haters. Last night before a tea date with Stripes and Muff, I was eating sushi at Pookie's apartment when who should arrive but Tacos and Lando Two. They searched for drinks and found some old sparkling grape juice.

Lando Two: Let's get glasses.
Pookie: You can drink from the bottle if you want.
Lando Two: Oh HELL YEAH!

Another Crazy Man

Last night saw In the Heights downtown with Pookie. We enjoyed it. It's not in my top five or anything, but it was obviously good. Tony winner and all. It's definitely a fun show. Maracas and Latin salsa. Much dancing. Much rapping. Fun is the word.

So, there was this guy a row to the right of us who insisted on clapping along to all the poppy songs. Okay, fine. But he also made very loud commentary when things looked spectacular. A sweet light cue and he would shout "Nice!" Then...in particularly sassy dances he would "woo!" and get sort of rambunctious. People around us were all very aware. Its an older stuffier crowd at a theatre on a Wednesday night in November. People weren't quite put out, but just surprised. I overheard a woman behind me sarcastically ask her neighbor, "Think he wrote it?" Maybe the show is meant to be viewed like that--very engaged and responsive. But, clearly, no one else was joining the goofy guy. So, he was not as much supporting the show as drawing away from it. As the big "Hooray We're Latino" number started this guy whipped out his own Mexican Flag and waved it righteously. This guy was also very white. Very non-Latino. I'm not saying he can't love the culture. I'm just saying he wasn't helping people appreciate his craze.

With art I sort of think you should really respond however you honestly feel. Sure, during Summer Brave when I was sobbing and begging Howard to marry, it was hard to hear laughter from the audience members who didn't see just how pathetic I was. But, they thought it was funny. So, whatever. They laughed. But...it does sort of ruin the moment for other audience members. Or does it? Does it just make it more complex?
