Bossy Pants

Trelly wrote our group of summer camp lady pals about how she is reading Tina Fey's Bossy Pants and can't stop hearing my voice. This is a blessing and a curse. What a compliment! But, also...how annoying. People frequently tell me how I remind them of Tina. I lamented back to my pals: You guys! What if I want to write a book someday, but my sense of humor just comes across as Fey-wannabe! When really it's always been me! Heck, I even look like her!

And so this is what Wizzy responded:

"yeah palice, but, actually, you're nothing like her.

i mean, u're ten times funnier. and I know YOU personally. also you look nothing alike. this is what she looks like:

and this is what you look like:

see? nothing alike."

Birthdays: Part II

In response to my birthday's post, my friend Wizzy sent me this e-mail:

"i guess this is her get out of jail free card for the rest rest of her life.

MARCH 5!!!!! IF YOU FORGET MINE I'LL FORGET YOURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I love that girl like a fat kid loves...

....

You thought I was going to say "cake"! Well, come off it! A. That's a cliche, and while not all cliches are inherently poison, this one is as it is offensive. B. Not all fat people love cake. In fact, some fat people don't love sweets at all. IT COULD BE GLANDULAR. Whatevs. Point is: I love the girl hella, and I won't forget her birthday.

In a brand new city got my whole team wit me tonight, tonight. I do it how I wanna do.

Things I Miss about Summer Camp

-the smell of the dining room, especially at breakfast, ESPECIALLY when croissants have been made
-when the kids sing the song about the creepy butcher who cuts up pets for his sausages
-the sound of the waves as I am falling asleep
-admiring a fire at least once a week
-misty mornings on the stretch of road I run
-seeing sailboats on the lake
-when kids really commit to the lip sync competition
-wearing trashy running shorts 24/7
-being in the buzzing kitchen after hours
-the green rocking chairs on the deck
-teaching Sunday School
-one piece of mail feeling like a huge gulp of air
-names of campers past written with Sharpies on the walls
-Sunday morning donuts
-singing as the sun sets
-remembering all the wonderful women who stood where I stood, prayed where I prayed
-remembering years of Alice past, and all the wonderful girls who stood with me, laughed where I laughed

On on your lovely woody banks, we dream beneath the shade
and offer up again our thanks. Your memories ne'er will fade.

Random Thoughts

My stomach is arguing with me. Rude. I fed it salad, coffee, greek yogurt, a piece of pumpkin bread, a sip of cider, a FiberOne bar, and a shortbread cookie. My guess about the culprit: the GD cookie. Uck my innards are making all these noisy little squelches. Stop that! I just tried to calm my tum tum with string cheese. Perhaps not a good idea. One can never tell.

This is a true sentence: My sister married my mom.

Sometimes when I am feeling blah running, I pretend I am in a music video of what my iPod is playing. Tonight on the dark dark track I was in Powerline's "Stand Out" video. Nevermind that it is a cartoon. Never you mind!

I love my Koh Hos. I spent a fair amount of time this morning texting Trelly while we both watched The Biggest Loser in our respective cities.

Honestly, when I think about things I enjoy, eating greek yogurt is consistently at the top.

Scream 4 comes out in April!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MY HAMSTER IS SO FREAKIN' CUTE! (Yeah, I am one of those people. Whatever. Be grateful I haven't made Blanche her own Facebook...imagine how cute it would be! "Activities: Running, Napping, Climbing, Planning Escape, Waiting for Special K to Fall from the Heavens")

Blessings Out the Wazoo

One day I will record them all. For now, I'm hot from walking to historic E-toun and tired from just looking at all I have to pack.

Brief Excellence: Gettin' Rubbed, Ridin' Waterslides, Fam Damily, A MAGICAL EXCURSION TO THE CB WITH HOLY T (DEFINITELY MORE ON THIS LATER!) and...breakfast.

Jamba + Muff = Love

And, to you, dear Kiwi, reading in your chicken-poxed state in a room with peeling yellow wallpaper--the outside world:

My beautiful college.

Stars, in their multitudes, scarce to be counted, filling the darkness with order and light.

It's Like a Video of You Playing

Don & Lina, Singin' in the Rain 2006

Good: Going to a waterpark.
Bad: My room is a mess. I am in denial about how fast the family is showing up.
Good: The caliber of acting at yesterday's scene study performances. I am so excited to be going to ACTF with Huntie again next year.
Bad: My fussiness with clothes--not just because it't hot. Because I'm starting to feel bound by everything I wear. Feeling stuck and trapped and wanting to get these few days over with while simultaneously never wanting them to end.
Good: I have a sister. And a beautiful little town outside Chicago to jet off to.
Bad: I haven't been able to see her plenty. Trying to squeeze in the college friends.
Good: I have a job until next summer.
Bad: I am getting antsy about the energy summer camp needs and antsy about the details of next year with my other jobs. Still haven't pinned housing, timelines, etc.

Tell me why I feel so bad, Honey.
TV's flat and nothing is funny.
